Position Summary
Our client, a leading healthcare organization in Mason City, Iowa, is seeking a dedicated Travel Respiratory Therapist to join their respiratory therapy department on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for respiratory therapists seeking travel assignments with flexible scheduling and competitive compensation. The ideal candidate will be a licensed, experienced respiratory therapist ready to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced clinical environment. This position requires relocation to the Mason City area and is exclusively available to non-local candidates residing at least 60 miles from the facility.
Core Responsibilities
As a Travel Respiratory Therapist, you will deliver high-quality respiratory care services to diverse patient populations across various clinical settings. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Assessing patient respiratory function and recommending appropriate therapeutic interventions based on clinical findings and physician orders
  • Operating and maintaining sophisticated respiratory equipment, including ventilators, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol generators
  • Performing diagnostic procedures such as pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, and bronchial hygiene therapy
  • Educating patients and families regarding respiratory conditions, treatment protocols, and disease management strategies
  • Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Documenting clinical observations, interventions, and patient responses accurately and thoroughly in medical records
  • Monitoring equipment functionality and ensuring appropriate maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Responding promptly to respiratory emergencies and code situations with appropriate clinical intervention
  • Maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and safety standards
  • Adapting quickly to different clinical environments while maintaining consistent quality of care

Must-Have Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be considered:
  • Current, valid respiratory therapist licensure in the state of Iowa
  • Successful completion of Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) examination or equivalent credentials
  • Minimum of two years of clinical respiratory therapy experience in acute care settings
  • Valid CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with excellent team collaboration abilities
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to relocate to Mason City for the assignment duration
  • Residency requirement: must reside at least 60 miles from the facility (non-local candidates only)
  • Ability to work evening shift hours (19:00 - 07:30) on a three-day, twelve-hour schedule
