Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II with 2+ years of experience for a pediatric respiratory care night shift position at an academic medical center in Chapel Hill, NC.

Details

  • Pediatric Respiratory Care Services unit at a large academic medical center
  • Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week, 3 days per week
  • On-call required 1 weekend per 6 weeks
  • 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period
  • Must be available for holiday coverage including Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Current RRT certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
  • At least one of the following certifications required depending on practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or an advanced practice certificate to administer moderate sedation in a Bronchoscopy Lab
  • License required if applicable
  • Two professional references required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Administers respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, oxygen therapy, breathing exercises, bedside pulmonary function testing, and arterial punctures
  • Provides comprehensive airway management including tracheostomy care, tracheostomy tube changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations
  • Manages mechanical ventilation using specialized ventilator modes and weaning techniques
  • May transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals as part of the air care transport team
  • May perform advanced practice procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABG analysis, and blood glucose monitoring per air care protocol
  • May manage extracorporeal circulation (ECMO) for cardiac and respiratory support
  • Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff
  • Background check and drug screen are required prior to start; candidates should be prepared to complete drug screening promptly upon commitment
