    Respiratory Therapist

    Job Details:

    • Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging including data entry, verification, and correction of errors• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed
    • Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans
    • Explain purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provide discharge education
    • Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices
    • Perform chest physiotherapy using various equipment to promote secretion clearance
    • Perform patient suctioning via oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal methods
    • Perform oximetry and capnography monitoring according to policy
    • Conduct routine reviews of patient chest X-rays to determine need for further evaluation
    • Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition
    • Perform pulmonary function studies including NIF and VC according to policy
    • Assist with respiratory care procedures including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement
    • Perform chest drainage via PleurX catheter or similar device where applicable
    • Perform tracheostomy care including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes in both emergent and non-emergent situations
    • Perform arterial punctures and monitor, record, and report ventilation efficiency and test results
    • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines
    • Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes via freehand technique and/or video laryngoscope system
    • Set up, self-test, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation on various types of equipment
    • Assist in facilitating preventative maintenance and repair of equipment as needed
    • Record all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient chart
    • Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding the efficiency of therapy administered
    • Report all necessary information during shift-to-shift walking rounds handoff communication
