Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist / ECMO Specialist Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT-NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:30); Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 4 years preferred License: Valid license as a Respiratory Therapist; pending license acceptable Certifications: BLS, PALS, RRT, RRT-NPS Must-Have: - Candidates must have experience operating ECMO systems on critically ill patients. - Candidates should be able to respond to emergencies efficiently. - Candidates must understand and manage equipment in critical care situations. Description: This position is a hybrid role of Registered Respiratory Therapist and ECMO Specialist. The primary responsibility is providing general neonatal and pediatric respiratory critical care. Candidates will operate ECMO systems for critically ill patients. If no ECMO assignment is available, candidates will backfill as Respiratory Therapists. Experience in bedside pump management and circuit assembly is essential. Candidates will need to complete priming and respond to emergencies within 10 minutes. They must manage circulatory equipment and perform procedures such as administering medications and drawing labs. Candidates should be familiar with centrifugal ECMO technology. The role requires understanding of treatment for conditions such as respiratory distress syndrome and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Candidates must have experience in pediatric critical care and a familiarity with standard respiratory therapy procedures. Normal patient ratios are 6 for both day and night shifts. Candidates will work with an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapy, pharmacy, and respiratory services. The patient population includes neonates, infants, children, and adolescents with a variety of respiratory issues. Candidates will also participate in the management of complex patient diagnoses and special procedures related to respiratory care. Experience with specific equipment such as ECMO systems and various ventilators is important. This position demands strong communication and technical skills for managing critical patient care situations.
