License: Current State License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care. Must-Have: BLS, ACLS, NRP Description: A Respiratory Care Practitioner performs designated Respiratory Care and Pulmonary diagnostic procedures. These tasks are carried out in accordance with established policies and procedures. The goal is to treat, manage, control, diagnose, and care for patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities. Respiratory Care services include therapeutic treatment and diagnostic testing using medical gases and equipment. This also encompasses environmental control systems, humidification, and aerosols. Responsibilities include administering medications to the cardiopulmonary system. The role entails providing ventilatory support, including the maintenance and management of life support systems. Bronchopulmonary clearance and breathing exercises are part of the job responsibilities. Patient education and cardiopulmonary resuscitation are daily tasks. Maintenance of natural and artificial airways is also required. These procedures are performed in critical and non-critical care areas across patients of all ages. The Respiratory Care Practitioner must conduct job duties in alignment with organizational mission, vision, and values. Additional duties may be assigned.
