Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapy Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: State RT license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, PALS, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Must-Have: - 2 years of respiratory therapy experience - Trauma level 2 or 3 experience - Critical care experience Description: This position involves working as a Critical Care Respiratory Therapist. The candidate will cover all adult units and the emergency department (ED). Expectations include providing care for pediatric patients in the ED. Duties include performing arterial blood gases (ABGs) and capillary blood gases (CBGs) in intensive care units. The therapist will provide overnight coverage for the EKG department as needed. Responsibilities also include assisting with intubation and placing laryngeal airways during code blue situations. Neonatologists and hospitalists will be available 24/7 on-site. The department has a respiratory therapy system director, as well as on-site management and supervisors. Three 12-hour shifts will be scheduled, with day shifts from 0630 to 1900 and night shifts from 1830 to 0700. Weekend coverage is required every third weekend, and holiday coverage is needed every other holiday. While call is not mandatory, volunteers may be called in off-shift to maintain minimum staffing. The expected call response time is one hour. The dress code includes any color scrubs and supportive footwear. Equipment used includes various ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow devices. In addition, departmental orientation will be provided. Candidates must not have worked for this organization in the past 6 months. All clinicians must clock in and out while on duty.
