Job Title: Pediatric Respiratory Therapist Profession: RRT Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Current license in the state of practice Certifications: BLS from AHA only, NRP, PALS Must-Have: 2 years Pediatric/Neonatal Experience Description: Flu vaccination or approved exemption is required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1. Position requires Pediatric and Neonatal Respiratory Therapy experience. The role involves working with pediatric and neonatal patients. This is a night shift position, consisting of three 12-hour shifts per week. Candidate must demonstrate safe medication administration. Adherence to all policies and procedures regarding Incident Reports and Sentinel Events is required. Confidentiality policies and infection control guidelines must be followed. Creates a safe environment through various safety practices, including fall precautions and restraint management. Utilizes patient identification protocols and follows time-out procedures. Respects patients' and guests' personal property. Complies with hospital-wide and department-specific safety regulations. Functions as a preceptor and resource person within the team. Participates in committees and activities related to quality improvement. Coordinates workflow by communicating with appropriate personnel in a timely manner. Participates in physician rounds. Identifies and resolves issues related to patients, families, physicians, staff, and equipment. Communicates patient goals and changes in status to other healthcare team members. Makes independent decisions in both routine and complex situations. Transcribes physician orders accurately and seeks clarification as needed. Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with colleagues across disciplines. Performs technical skills specific to respiratory practice. Assists physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. Assesses the needs of patients and families, both physical and psychosocial. Implements appropriate respiratory care interventions and procedures. Maintains accurate, organized, complete, and confidential documentation. Identifies patient and caregiver education needs and utilizes resources to meet those needs. Updates and maintains care plans in a timely manner to reflect changes in patient needs. Assures all patient charges and credits are entered appropriately. Stays current with literature and best practices in Neonatal and Pediatric Respiratory Care. Demonstrates effective time management skills and prioritizes patient care. Shows flexibility regarding workload and assignments. Interacts with patients, families, and co-workers in a caring manner. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and adheres to hospital policies regarding their administration. Exhibits clinical reasoning skills, including decision-making and critical thinking. Observes departmental policies and operational guidelines. Attends daily huddles and departmental meetings. Demonstrates competence in initiating and maintaining use of routine equipment. Responsible for routine equipment maintenance and supply stocking. Assists in evaluating new products, equipment, policies, and standards. Educational requirement includes graduation from an accredited college program in Respiratory Care. Prior Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care experience is required.
