Description: The Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory care by the prescription of the physician. Responsibilities include diagnostic evaluation, management, education, and rehabilitation of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system. The practice includes the application of technology and treatment protocols across all care sites. Responsibilities involve the application and monitoring of medical gases and environmental control systems. The role includes mechanical ventilatory support and artificial airway care. Bronchopulmonary hygiene and pharmacological agents related to respiratory care procedures are also part of the duties. The role encompasses cardiopulmonary rehab and hemodynamic cardiovascular support.
