Job Title: Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner Profession: Respiratory Care Specialty: NICU Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: Not specified Experience: Current Epic experience required License: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required Certifications: - Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential preferred - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from an approved vendor required - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor required - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from an approved vendor required Description: Perform basic and critical respiratory care services. Ability to work well without supervision and maintain supervision over others, as delegated. Provide respiratory care services for patients with respiratory disease as ordered by the physician. Complete paperwork, electronic medical records, flow sheets, and charges for each patient. Assist in department record keeping and operation. Participate in training and supervision of new employees. Document care given and maintain treatment records. Generate necessary documentation for charges or record keeping. Administer aerosol and oxygen therapy while maintaining charts. Draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician order. Provide care to ventilator patients. Perform pulmonary function tests and drainage procedures. Provide additional patient care regarding cardio-respiratory disease. Assist in cardio-respiratory rehabilitation. Provide instruction to patients and families about cardio-respiratory disease and its implications. Make rounds to check all respiratory therapy equipment in use or on standby in patient areas. Ensure completion of initial ventilator bundle orders upon initiation of mechanical ventilation. Ensure compliance with VAP bundle for all patients receiving mechanical ventilation. Identify measurable and reasonable outcomes using appropriate therapy interventions. Update and communicate the diagnosis throughout the patient's stay based on changing condition and disease status. Assist with maintenance and processing of equipment used in respiratory therapy services. Serve as a knowledge resource to physicians and hospital staff regarding respiratory care. Assist in stocking and re-ordering parts and equipment. Set up specialty equipment and keep it clean. Assist physicians with bronchoscopies and special procedures. Assist with quality control, staff schedules, and competencies. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Comply with all vaccination requirements and organizational policies.
