Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 18:30 - 07:00 Experience: Minimum of 1 year Acute experience License: Must have state RRT license in hand Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: High-risk experience preferred; if no experience, must be open to high risk training on site. Description: Must obtain NRP prior to the start date. Floating required as needed within the metro region. This includes mid-shift floating when necessary to ensure all guaranteed hours are worked. Rooms: 700 beds. Patient age group required: Adults and geriatrics, pediatrics preferred. Therapist will assist in pediatrics and with emergency room patients. Must be comfortable with all ages. Specific pediatric hospital experience is not required. Must be comfortable with basic pediatric respiratory therapy care. There are 7 adult ICUs with 16 beds each, along with pediatric and adult acute care. Treats and educates all patient populations with various diagnoses including but not limited to asthma, COPD, emphysema, pneumonia, and non-pulmonary diagnoses. Performs both general and critical care tasks including medication delivery, bronchopulmonary hygiene, and hyperinflation therapy. Initiates, manages, and weans both invasive and non-invasive ventilation. Responsible for airway management and suctioning, cuff and ETCO2 monitoring. Assists with intubation, extubation, and maintenance of indwelling lines. Responds to rapid responses and emergency codes, and performs CPR. Engages in blood gas sampling and analysis, specimen collection, and spontaneous breathing parameters. Preferred experience includes changing tubing and bags for invasive lines/arterial lines. Work setting includes Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department. Required skills include management of endotracheal tubes and suctioning, extubation, and tracheostomy care. Administers medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, inhaled steroids, and others. Experience with aerosol setup masks and nebulizer systems required. Must manage high-flow nasal cannula and tracheostomy collars. Ventilator management is necessary, including BiPAP and CPAP. Assists in high-risk deliveries. Professional knowledge includes ABG interpretation. Experience with specific equipment is preferred. Please note that candidates must meet all requirements before applying.
