We’re hiring an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a local hospital in Portland, ME where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. This role supports varied patient populations including adult acute, critical care, pediatrics, and NICU/PICU as needed. The position requires flexible teamwork and clear communication in a tertiary, teaching hospital and level 1 trauma environment.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
  • Current state Respiratory Therapist license in good standing.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical respiratory therapy experience. Tertiary/teaching hospital and level 1 trauma experience required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • NRP certification required for NICU assignments.
  • ACLS preferred.
  • Experience with adult critical care, acute pediatrics, NICU/PICU, and ED settings required.
  • Experience with ventilators: Drager V500/VN500, Hamilton T1/C1, Respironics V30/V60, Trilogy line, Airvo, Vapotherm preferred.
  • Familiarity with EPIC or similar electronic medical records preferred.
  • Ability to float within the facility and cover varied assignments across adult and pediatric areas.


Preferred Qualifications

  • NICU/PICU and cardiothoracic experience preferred.
  • Flexible, team-oriented communicator preferred.


Assignment Details

  • Shift hours: 1900–0700.
  • Weekly guaranteed hours: 36.
  • Weekend hours: 36 (unless otherwise noted).
  • Call requirements: yes. Two hours for the oncoming shift.
  • Float requirements: must float as RRT to NICU/PICU, acute pediatrics, ED, and adult acute/critical care.
