We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local healthcare provider where you’ll be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
- Current California state respiratory care license in good standing.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
- Minimum one year experience as an RRT, with experience across adult, pediatric, and neonatal patient populations preferred.
- Certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, PALS, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
- Experience with Cerner charting system.
- Experience with mechanical ventilators including PB 840, Servo 1, LTV 1200, and 3100A high frequency oscillator preferred.
- Ability to perform and report arterial blood gases (ABGs) and neonatal capillary gases.
- Willingness and ability to float to floors, ICU, and NICU as needed. First to float on nights.
- Ability to cover telemetry responsibilities including 12-lead acquisition on nights and weekend coverage.
- Orientation and competency validation required: approximately 1–2 precepted shifts for floor, ICU, and NICU with skills checkoff; 12 hours of orientation noted by client.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend. Holiday rotation with core staff. May be asked to cover NICU call if experienced.
- Preferred: NICU experience. Preferred: prior charge/lead RT experience.
Assignment Details
- Facility type: Hospital.
- Shift name: Nights.
- Shift pattern: 12-hour nights, every other weekend (EOW).
- Typical shift times at facility: 1830–0700 for nights; day shift noted as 0630–1900 for reference.
- Orientation hours: 12 hours as specified by client and 1–2 precepted shifts for floor/ICU/NICU skill validation.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Primary unit: Respiratory. Floating required to floors, ICU, and NICU.
- Treatments and volume expectations: Floors ~30–35 RVUs per day; ICU duties include ventilator management and treatments; NICU duties depend on vent census.
- Respiratory therapy coverage: RT coverage 24/7. Pharmacy available 24/7.
