We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Cleveland, OH where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
  • Current state Respiratory Therapist license in good standing with the Ohio state licensing board.
  • Registry as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Minimum one year of clinical experience as an RRT, preferably in an acute care hospital setting.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Experience with mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation, and ventilator setup and monitoring.
  • Competence in arterial blood gas collection and interpretation.
  • Ability to perform suctioning, tracheostomy care, endotracheal tube insertion/removal, and assist with bronchoscopy and chest tube management.
  • Familiarity with pulse oximetry, capnography, 12‑lead EKG acquisition, and basic arrhythmia recognition.
  • Experience documenting respiratory treatments and charges in electronic medical records.
  • Preferred: ACLS certification.

Standard Job Description:

Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans. Explains purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, and provides necessary education upon discharge to home.

Performs physician-prescribed treatments of a routine nature, operating various ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation. Conducts chest physiotherapy and performs suctioning by various methods. Performs oximetry and capnography monitoring. Reviews chest x-rays for further evaluation needs. Conducts 12‑lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition. Performs pulmonary function studies (NIF, VC, etc.). Assists with procedures (bronchoscopy, percutaneous trachs, chest tube placement). Performs drainage via PleurX or similar devices where applicable. Provides tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes. Performs arterial puncture and reports results. For hospitals with moderate complexity labs, follows all laboratory testing policies and procedures. Performs CPR per BLS and ACLS guidelines. Performs endotracheal tube insertion and removal using free hand technique and/or video laryngoscope. Sets up, tests, operates, maintains, and monitors mechanical ventilation. Assists with equipment preventative maintenance and documents treatments and patient responses accurately. Communicates with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy effectiveness and reports hand-off information during shift rounds. Maintains accurate therapy charging and performs other duties as assigned.
