Responsibilities
- Deliver direct bedside nursing care for adult surgical patients, including preoperative assessment and postoperative recovery
- Monitor patient status, administer medications, manage chest tubes and drains, and respond to physiologic changes; operate IV and PCA pumps as needed
- Document care in the unit's EMR (WOWS/EMR charting), ensure accurate charting, and maintain medication security with Pyxis
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate perioperative care and discharge planning
- Maintain aseptic technique, infection control practices, and patient and family education; assist with transfers between units and post-anesthesia care as needed

Requirements
- Hawaii RN license active by start date; travelers not in possession must apply upon acceptance and obtain Hawaii licensure by start
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience with strong pre/postoperative surgical nursing background
- Experience with abdominal procedures (e.g., cholecystectomy, appendectomy, mastectomies, thyroidectomies) and related drains; capable with chest tubes
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts and float to other units as needed; nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6 on this unit
