Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a MS/Tele Float position requiring 2 years of recent telemetry experience and both Kansas and Missouri or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Hospital-based MS/Tele Float position with a 30-bed unit and daily census of 30
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Required to work 8 weekend shifts (Fri/Sat/Sun combination) within a 6-week schedule period
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
• Regular floating may be required between departments, units and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC charting system
• Wide variety of intermediate level of care patients including stroke, heart failure, respiratory failure, pneumonia, GI bleed, syncope, TIA, falls, renal failure, and post-surgical patients requiring higher level of care monitoring

Requirements

• Active RN license required in both Kansas and Missouri, or compact license, in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Required skills: cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response team utilization, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure care, blood product administration, central line and PICC line care, peripheral IV starts, heparin protocol management, cardiac drip management (no titration), CVA and pre/post neurosurgery care, surgical drain management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac management
• Preferred skills: ER holding, neuro stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown experience, port accessing, vasoactive drip management, PCA management, traumatic brain injury care, ortho trauma and total joint replacement care, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care across a wide variety of intermediate-level acuity patients requiring cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and renal monitoring
• Willingness to float between departments, units, and facilities is required; unwillingness may result in cancellation
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility for consideration
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, all requests must be finalized at time of submission with no changes allowed afterward
• Returning staff must observe an 18-month tenure with a 3-month break in service; permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Facility may offer without an interview, though accommodations can be made if the candidate prefers to interview with the manager
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
