Responsibilities
- Provide direct professional nursing care to adult patients in a Med Surg unit, with a primary focus on surgical patients and occasional medical overlap due to bed needs.
- Monitor patient status, administer medications and treatments per physician orders, perform basic procedures within scope, and document changes accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with the care team, including patient care technicians and the shift supervisor, to maintain safe, patient-focused care and target 1:5–6 nurse-to-patient ratios on nights.
- Assure patient safety and comfort through fall prevention, infection control practices, accurate charting, and timely escalation of clinical concerns.
- Facilitate admissions, transfers, and discharges, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and participate in care plan updates as needed.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license (state-specific; Illinois)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Med Surg experience preferred; strong consideration for capable new graduates seeking a Med Surg track
- Ability to work nights in a fast-paced unit with support from patient care techs and a shift supervisor
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with RN licensure (ASN/BSN or higher preferred)
- Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills; willingness to adapt to unit workflows and bed management needs
