Responsibilities
- Perform surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) and provide infection prevention education to staff.
- Write and update infection prevention policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards from The Joint Commission (TJC), OSHA, CMS, CDC, and other applicable guidelines.
- Apply hospital epidemiology principles to monitor HAIs, conduct investigations as needed, and communicate findings to clinical teams and leadership.
- Conduct initial assessments and maintain records related to work injuries and illnesses; collaborate with Human Resources to support employee health screenings, annual immunization updates, and workers’ compensation reporting as appropriate.
- Provide education on infection prevention practices, hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and vaccination programs; participate in outbreak response and staff training activities.
- Contribute to the ongoing evaluation of infection prevention programs and quality improvement initiatives within the care environment.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California.
- Knowledge or experience in infection prevention, epidemiology, or healthcare infection control principles.
- Ability to work in a travel assignment with a 20-hour-per-week daytime schedule.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with Human Resources and clinical teams.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (TJC, OSHA, CMS, CDC) and best practices in infection prevention.
