Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a cardiovascular ICU, including monitoring post-surgical and cardiology patients and using clinical judgment to respond to actual or potential health issues.
- Maintain continuous cardiac monitoring, interpret EKGs, administer medications, and manage hemodynamic support as needed.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care, including perioperative and cardiology services, with attention to discharge planning and patient/family education.
- Operate and monitor ventilators and other critical care equipment; respond to code events and escalation of care per unit protocols.
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately; ensure quality and safety measures are followed across all shifts.
- Be prepared to float to similar units as required by unit staffing, with preference for experience in Neuro, CVICU, or Trauma settings.

Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license; license verification via LARA and Nursys (a license hit requires a write-up for manager review).
- ACLS and BLS certifications.
- Minimum 1 year ICU experience (floating not considered) – REQUIRED.
- EKG experience – REQUIRED.
- Willingness to float to similar units (Neuro, CVICU, Trauma) – REQUIRED (Neuro/CVICU/Trauma experience preferred).
- Skills checklist completed within one year of application – REQUIRED.

- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week contract
- 3x12-hour night shifts
- Weekly pay: $2,221–$2,406
- On-call weekends possible
- Holiday pay rate applies (7 pm eve of holiday to 7 pm on holiday)
- Attendance policy enforces a 3-strike rule; absences or >20 minutes late three times can result in termination (exceptions for communicable disease or hospitalization with evidence)
- No traveler shift incentives; must make up any call-ins within the contract period
