Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Diagnostic Radiology Duration: Permanent Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: No prior experience required License: ARRT Certified in Radiography Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification Must-Have: - General Diagnostic Radiology - Departmental Protocols - Policy and Procedures Adherence - Troubleshooting - Knowledge Sharing Description: Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology. Is familiar with and adheres to departmental protocols and policy and procedures. Obtains RT(R) credentials and maintains active status. Uses technical knowledge and ability to assist in troubleshooting work unit problems with respect to equipment and protocols. Enthusiastically shares knowledge with employees and students in the work unit. Ensures that patient demographic, emulsion markers, and examination requested are correct. Critiques, orients, and saves all pertinent images. Transmits quality-assured images to PACS and ensures that all images reach PACS. Documents completion and/or cancellation of all procedures appropriately. Maintains image management equipment and reports any equipment problems to appropriate resources. Utilizes PACS and HIS systems for obtaining additional study data. Performs work in a timely manner and quality radiographic images on a consistent basis. Analyzes requests and draws appropriate conclusions for examinations and action plans. Reviews radiographic orders and images while correlating patient demographic information to ensure accuracy. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Documents incidents and advises area supervisor of improvement opportunities for the work unit. Uses RIS, CIS, PACS, and SMS effectively to access information and document status of procedures. Completes exams in the RIS system and verifies that all information has arrived properly in PACS. Verifies patient identity and obtains patient history relevant to examination orders. Verifies pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation. Assesses patients' physical condition and develops an action plan for performing examinations. Determines if additional medical personnel or equipment is needed and takes appropriate action. Assists patients that require extra attention and reacts to emergency situations. Ensures patient safety at all times.
