Job Title: Clienttion Therapist Profession: Clienttion Therapist Specialty: Clienttion Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8 am to 4:30 pm Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Licensed by the State Department of Nuclear Safety or License-Pending State Department of Nuclear Safety for recent graduates Certifications: American Registry of Clienttion Therapists (ARRT), Basic Life Support (BLS - AHA) Must-Have: Graduate of an accredited school of radiation therapy technology Description: The radiation therapist is licensed to administer radiation treatments to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the radiation oncologist. The radiation therapist is an integral member of the health care team. They collaborate with the radiation oncologist, radiation oncology nurse, medical dosimetrist, and physicist. The goal is to coordinate services, ensure quality patient care, and provide continuity of care. During the treatment course, the therapist contributes to the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's plan of care. The practice of the radiation therapist includes delivering prescribed care, observing patients for reactions, and following radiation safety guidelines. They assist with dosimetry and tumor localization procedures, maintain appropriate records, and perform equipment checks. Patient teaching for the adult and geriatric population is also part of their responsibilities. The radiation therapist functions as the patient advocate throughout the course of therapy. A radiation therapist who is not officially licensed but has graduated from an approved radiation therapy school may perform all essential functions under direct supervision by a licensed therapist. Minimum education required is graduation from an accredited school of radiation therapy technology. Preferred education includes an Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree. Preferred experience consists of three years in radiation therapy technology, including the ability to treat with specific equipment and methods. Regulatory guidelines must be followed, and all policies and procedures should be adhered to in order to prevent unnecessary exposure to electrical and radiant energy hazards. The position reports to the Manager of Clienttion Oncology.
