Key Responsibilities of the Radiation Therapist
  • Administer radiation therapy according to physician's instructions and treatment plan
  • Operate and adjust equipment to regulate dosage
  • Assist in preparing radiation treatment plans using patient condition information
  • Construct patient immobilization devices as ordered by physicians
  • Maintain patient and billing records as per department policies
  • Perform radiation therapy treatments according to established practices
  • Prepare equipment and room for patient
  • Ensure safety through the use of appropriate protective equipment and procedures

  • Provide clinical instruction for student radiation therapists

Requirements of the Radiation Therapist
  • Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the CAHEA
  • Radiation Therapy certification by the ARRT
