Job Title: Licensed Psychologist Profession: Psychologist Specialty: - Duration: 6 months initial Shift: Full time Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience, including one year in a comparable position License: Current, unrestricted license to practice psychology Certifications: Valid driver's license required Must-Have: - Must be at least board eligible to qualify for privileges. - US Citizenship required for clearance. Description: The Licensed Psychologist is responsible for professional mental health care for inmates/residents. The successful candidate should be able to perform all functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with actual job performance requirements. Conduct psychological screenings and assessments based on review of available records and clinical interviews with inmates. As part of a mental health team, confer with other clinical staff, such as psychiatrists, mental health service providers, physicians, nurses, and social workers, to gather and provide information concerning patient psychological problems. Ensure treatment activities are well integrated and patient care follow-through occurs. Provide treatment to inmates by developing, implementing, and modifying individual treatment plans based on evaluation of needs and level of functioning. Make regular rounds in segregation or other confined housing areas to assess inmate adjustment and mental health treatment needs. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of psychological counseling theory and techniques through treatments and activities used for individuals in caseload. Provide appropriate mental health assessments, counseling, and confrontation avoidance interventions to address the needs of inmates in crisis. Consult with psychiatry, mental health, nursing, medical, educational, chaplain, and security staff, as applicable, to gather information and understand the reasons for the escalation of problem behaviors and changes in mental health condition of inmates.
