Job Details:
- Position: Nurse Manager Psych (Psychiatry with Med-Surg Experience)
- Location: Bronx, NY
- Shift Schedule: 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 7.5 hours per shift, minimum of 37.5 hours per week
- Start Date: 09/16/2026
- Required Qualifications: Certification on Psychiatry Mental Health Nursing; BLS (American Heart Association); ACLS (American Heart Association); PALS (American Heart Association); De-escalation Training; 1 year of psychiatric experience; at least some medical experience preferred (e.g., medical-surgical, telemetry, ICU); ability to identify major cardiac rhythms.
- Preferred Qualifications: MSN degree; certification in Psychiatry Mental Health Nursing.
- Additional Information:
- Responsible for managing a psychiatric unit accommodating up to 40 patients with mental health needs.
- Role includes supervising nursing staff, ensuring regulatory adherence, and improving patient safety and satisfaction.
- Orientation includes 3 weeks of classroom and unit-specific training.
- May be asked to float to inpatient units as needed.
- No IV medication administration; IM injections and PO medications handled.
- Staff includes multidisciplinary team with physicians, nurse aides, RT, and PCTs.
- On-site RT available for breathing treatments and respiratory assistance, equipped for intubation but transfer patients out when necessary.
- No cardiac monitoring; staff trained to identify life-threatening rhythms.
- Shift may involve working every other weekend and potentially participating in holiday rotations.
