Key Responsibilities- Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, balance, coordination, endurance training, and pain relief.
- Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
- Apply and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, iontophoresis, whirlpools, paraffin bath, fluidotherapy, and TENS units.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, treatment responses, and patient and family education.
- Educate patients and families on proper body mechanics and prescribed equipment use.
- Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment; adhere to infection control, safety policies, and facility guidelines at all times.
Required Qualifications- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) licensure in the state of Texas.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of therapeutic exercise and physical therapy modalities in an outpatient setting.
- Ability to implement treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Commitment to patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling and infection control practices.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
- Familiarity with community re-entry training and functional skills training for diverse patient populations.
- Experience participating in team conferences and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
