Key Responsibilities- Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercise, balance, coordination, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
- Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs, demonstrating proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
- Administer therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, whirlpools, paraffin bath, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and TENS units.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary, documenting patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education.
- Educate patients and families on proper body mechanics and prescribed equipment use.
- Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment; adhere to infection control, safety, and facility policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of Florida.
- Ability to implement and carry out treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and safe patient handling techniques.
- Commitment to patient and employee safety standards in all aspects of care delivery.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
- Familiarity with community re-entry training and endurance/cardiac rehabilitation programs.
