Schedule / Job TypeContract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | Monday–Friday (40 hours/week); variable daily hours including some early starts and evening availability
Key Responsibilities- Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening, endurance, balance, coordination, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
- Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
- Administer and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, whirlpools, paraffin bath, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and TENS units.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient/family education in a timely manner.
- Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safe patient handling practices, and facility safety policies; report equipment malfunctions or hazards promptly.
- Participate in team conferences, consult with other healthcare disciplines regarding therapy and projected treatment goals, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications- Active licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Maryland.
- Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques and physical therapy modalities.
- Ability to implement individualized treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Commitment to patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling, infection control, and workplace hazard awareness.
- Strong documentation skills with the ability to accurately record patient progress and treatment responses.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience in an inpatient rehabilitation or outpatient physical therapy setting.
- Familiarity with community re-entry training and assistive/adaptive equipment instruction.
- Experience teaching patients and families proper body mechanics and home exercise programs.
