Key Responsibilities- Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, and functional skills training.
- Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs, demonstrating proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
- Administer and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, paraffin bath, whirlpools, and TENS units.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary, documenting patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education.
- Teach patients and families proper body mechanics and instruct in the use of prescribed equipment.
- Collaborate with other healthcare disciplines, participate in team conferences, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications- Active licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Texas.
- Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic interventions including therapeutic exercise, modality application, and functional skills training.
- Ability to implement treatment plans under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Commitment to patient and employee safety, including safe patient handling, infection control, and adherence to facility policies and procedures.
- Strong documentation skills for recording patient progress and treatment responses.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
- Familiarity with a broad range of therapeutic modalities and assistive/adaptive equipment.
- Experience providing patient and family education on body mechanics and home exercise programs.
