Contract | 13 Weeks | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM | Outpatient | Days

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
  • Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
  • Apply therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, whirlpool, paraffin bath, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and TENS as directed.
  • Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education.
  • Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment; adhere to infection control, safety, and equipment handling policies and procedures.
  • Participate in team conferences, collaborate with other healthcare disciplines, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or eligibility to practice in the state of Georgia.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a PTA; new graduates will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic exercise, modality application, and safe patient handling techniques.
  • Ability to document patient progress accurately and in compliance with facility standards.
  • Commitment to patient and employee safety practices in all aspects of care delivery.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
  • Familiarity with assistive device training, gait belt use, and community re-entry programming.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
