    Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days | Monday through Friday | 40 hours per week | Rotating shifts: 3 days 7:30 AM–4:30 PM and 2 days 9:30 AM–6:30 PM

    Key Responsibilities
    • Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
    • Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
    • Apply and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including ultrasound, hot/cold packs, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, paraffin bath, TNS, and whirlpools.
    • Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient and family education.
    • Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment; adhere to infection control protocols, safe patient handling practices, and all facility safety policies.
    • Collaborate with other healthcare disciplines, participate in team conferences, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license or eligibility to practice in Virginia.
    • Experience or training in an outpatient orthopedic clinical setting.
    • Proficiency in applying therapeutic modalities and assistive device training.
    • Strong documentation skills for patient progress and treatment response.
    • Commitment to patient and employee safety standards and infection control protocols.
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Prior experience in an outpatient orthopedic clinic environment.
    • Familiarity with community re-entry training and cardiac/endurance rehabilitation programs.
    • Experience instructing patients and families in home exercise programs and proper body mechanics.
