Key Responsibilities
  • Implement physical therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Physical Therapist, tailoring interventions to each patient's learning style, therapeutic needs, and psycho-social, cultural, and spiritual considerations.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions addressing musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, and developmental impairments, documenting progress with measurable and functional goals.
  • Maintain accurate patient records including progress notes, treatment notes, charges, and discharge summaries in accordance with regulatory and departmental guidelines.
  • Collaborate regularly with the supervising Physical Therapist to discuss patient progress, adjust goals, and accommodate changes in caseload scheduling.
  • Communicate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding treatment provided, patient progress, complications, and clarification of orders.
  • Contribute to departmental performance through professional development activities including competency training, in-service coordination, mentoring new hires, and participation in performance improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in the state of South Carolina.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Ability to implement and document treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Commitment to maintaining required continuing education units (CEUs) for SC LLR licensure.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior experience in an outpatient physical therapy setting.
  • Experience working with a diverse patient population across musculoskeletal, neurological, and developmental conditions.
  • Experience serving as a clinical instructor or mentor to new staff or students.
