Key Responsibilities- Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs as established by the supervising Physical Therapist, including posture training, strengthening exercises, endurance training, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, pain relief, and functional skills training.
- Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, and assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs; demonstrate proper guarding techniques and safety awareness.
- Administer and demonstrate therapeutic modalities including whirlpools, hot/cold packs, paraffin bath, ultrasound, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and therapeutic pool activities.
- Monitor patient responses to treatment and intervene as necessary; document patient progress, response to treatment, and patient/family education on a weekly basis.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers on safe mobility, transfers, positioning, exercise, and proper body mechanics.
- Participate in team conferences, maintain professional working relationships with staff, and comply with all facility policies, safety, and infection control guidelines.
Required Qualifications- Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in accordance with state practice guidelines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of therapeutic exercise techniques and physical therapy modalities.
- Ability to safely assist patients with mobility, transfers, and use of assistive devices.
- Commitment to patient and employee safety practices, including safe patient handling and infection control protocols.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Prior experience in a rehabilitation or inpatient hospital setting.
- Experience with community re-entry training and caregiver education programs.
- Participation in continuing education and willingness to provide in-service education to peers and other healthcare professionals.
