Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Physical Therapy or a licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) is responsible for providing quality physical therapy services to patients at Modoc Medical Center (MMC). The PTA assists in implementing treatment plans, monitoring patient progress, and documenting patient responses to therapy while ensuring safe and effective patient care.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- No weekends
- 1-hour evaluations
- 45-minute follow-up appointments
- No double booking
- Average patient load: 8–9 patients per day

Essential Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
- Demonstrate professional behavior at all times both inside and outside the workplace.
- Maintain positive working relationships with patients, families, physicians, and staff.

- Complete assigned duties accurately and within designated timeframes.
- Maintain organized and accurate patient records and documentation.
- Answer phones professionally and assist with patient scheduling and front office duties as needed.
- Utilize office equipment and software effectively.
- Follow chain of command and accept direction professionally.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide physical therapy treatments as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Observe, evaluate, document, and communicate patient responses to treatment.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legible patient records.
- Ensure patient safety and maintain a clean treatment environment.
- Practice infection prevention procedures including proper hand hygiene.
- Safely and effectively utilize therapy equipment and treatment modalities.
- Educate and involve patients and families in treatment plans and care strategies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide quality patient care.
- Assist with maintaining inventory and ordering therapy supplies.

- Taping techniques
- Spinal traction
