Job Title: Physical Therapist Assistant Profession: Physical Therapist Assistant Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: M-F Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in a clinical setting with a frail or elderly population License: Valid Physical Therapy Assistant License Certifications: - Must-Have: - Physical therapy knowledge and skills necessary to treat frail, elderly participants with complex needs - Excellent clinical, organizational, and communication skills in settings with seniors and interdisciplinary team members - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision - Demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment - Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures - Commitment to unlocking the full potential of our most vulnerable seniors Description: The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for assisting with performing tests and providing restorative and rehabilitative physical therapy services to participants. Services are provided to maximize participant independence and safety and develop or restore function. The assistant will work with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement the plan of care established by the physical therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant administers treatment programs as established by the physical therapist. They assist in obtaining vital signs, range of motion, and strength testing. The assistant coordinates with other members of the rehabilitation team to implement activities based on the individual treatment plans of the participants. Responsibilities include handling the scheduling of treatment and clinical visits. They deliver and document physical therapy interventions in accordance with the established care plans. This includes the use of devices, techniques, and activities to promote muscle re-education, cognitive function, balance, and endurance. The Physical Therapist Assistant provides training and instruction to staff, participants, and caregivers/families in the use and care of therapeutic equipment. They track and manage maintenance for equipment. The assistant remains alert to input from team members, participants, and caregivers, updating the physical therapist promptly on any changes in participants' conditions or functional statuses. The assistant participates in end-of-life care coordination and support under the supervision of the physical therapist. They protect privacy and maintain confidentiality of all procedures and information about team members and participants. The assistant follows company policies and procedures and participates in required quality improvement activities and trainings. They communicate regularly with supervisors and their team regarding workload and priorities. Timely completion of all mandated trainings and education is required, as well as completion of all mandated physical health screenings. The Physical Therapist Assistant exercises flexibility in performing assignments as business needs evolve. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
