This Physical Therapist Assistant position is based in Silver Spring, Maryland, a lively and walkable community just outside Washington, DC. The area offers a vibrant downtown with restaurants, coffee shops, live music venues, and a variety of shopping options. You will be close to beautiful parks and trails, convenient public transportation, and a rich mix of cultural events and festivals throughout the year. Silver Spring provides the feel of a friendly neighborhood with the amenities of a major metropolitan area within easy reach.
You will join a busy outpatient clinic known for a strong commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care. The facility sees a diverse orthopedic and neurologic caseload, including post-surgical, sports, spine, and general musculoskeletal conditions. This is an excellent setting to build and refine advanced outpatient clinical skills while working alongside experienced physical therapists and a supportive multidisciplinary team.
As a PTA in this clinic, you will implement treatment plans under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist. A typical day includes leading individual treatment sessions, progressing therapeutic exercise programs, performing appropriate manual techniques within scope, providing patient and family education, and reinforcing home exercise programs. You will document visits in the clinic’s electronic system and collaborate closely with PTs to report progress, discuss modifications in plans of care, and help patients reach their functional goals.
Expect a fast-paced environment with a steady flow of patients throughout the day. You will work with a wide variety of diagnoses and ages, which supports continuous learning and professional growth. Patient volumes are structured to allow for effective, one-on-one care while maintaining reasonable productivity expectations. The team culture emphasizes collaboration, respect, and open communication, with PTs and PTAs working together to solve clinical challenges and support one another.
The position is primarily a day-shift role, with a schedule that includes standard daytime hours and a few later days each week to accommodate patients who need evening appointments. This offers a good balance between work and personal time while still providing some schedule variety.
