Job Overview
We are seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) for a 14-week contract assignment in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to support rehabilitation programs, assist with patient therapy sessions, and help improve mobility, strength, and functional outcomes.
This role requires hands-on patient care in a rehabilitation setting with a focus on restoring movement and improving quality of life for patients recovering from injury, surgery, or illness.
Key Responsibilities
Assist physical therapists in implementing patient treatment plans
Guide patients through therapeutic exercises and mobility activities
Record patient progress and report changes to supervising therapist
Support use of therapeutic equipment and modalities
Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and functional training
Maintain accurate documentation of therapy sessions
Ensure patient safety during all therapy activities
Collaborate with healthcare team to support rehabilitation goals
Requirements
Active Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) license in New Mexico or compact eligibility
Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility standards
Minimum 1 year of PTA or rehabilitation experience preferred
Ability to work daytime shifts consistently
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to follow treatment plans under supervision
Physical ability to assist patients with mobility and exercise activities
