This Physical Therapist Assistant position is based in Hillsboro, Oregon, a growing, vibrant community just west of Portland. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work closely with licensed Physical Therapists to provide high-quality rehabilitative care to a primarily orthopedic caseload. Typical patient populations include post-surgical patients, athletes, individuals recovering from work or sports injuries, and those managing chronic musculoskeletal conditions. You will follow established plans of care, progress therapeutic exercises, provide manual therapy interventions as appropriate, and educate patients on home exercise programs, body mechanics, and injury prevention.
A typical day includes assisting with patient evaluations by gathering objective data as directed, independently treating scheduled follow-up visits, updating the supervising Physical Therapist on patient progress, and documenting all care in the electronic medical record. You will help manage a steady outpatient caseload, supporting appropriate patient flow while maintaining a strong focus on quality care and patient safety. Patient volumes are consistent with a productive outpatient environment, with scheduling designed to allow for hands-on care and meaningful patient interaction.
Responsibilities include setting up and cleaning treatment areas, monitoring patients during therapeutic activities, using modalities as directed by the Physical Therapist, and collaborating with front office and support staff to ensure a smooth clinic experience. You will have opportunities to be involved in specialty programming aligned with clinic needs and your professional interests, such as sports performance, work conditioning, balance and gait training, or post-operative rehabilitation pathways.
