Standard Job Description
Embrace clinic standards and core values focused on patient and employee safety. Implement treatment goals, plans, and programs established by the Physical Therapist. Assist in therapeutic interventions designed to meet patient long-term goals including posture training, strengthening, endurance/cardiac training, balance and coordination exercises, joint mobility, pain relief, functional skills training, and community re-entry training.
Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs. Demonstrate safe guarding and gait belt techniques. Order and instruct patients in the use of prescribed equipment. Demonstrate and assist with modalities including hot/cold packs, paraffin, TENS, whirlpool, ultrasound, iontophoresis, and other clinic-specific modalities as appropriate.
Monitor patient response and intervene as necessary. Use equipment safely and report malfunctioning items. Document patient progress, education, and family participation. Establish and maintain professional and ethical working relationships with patients and staff. Consult with other healthcare disciplines regarding therapy and projected goals. Participate in team conferences and quality improvement projects. Comply with clinic policies, safety, infection control practices, and documentation standards. Perform other duties as assigned.
