Travel Physical Therapist – Acute Care

Schedule / Job TypeContract | 13-Week Travel Assignment | Days | 10-Hour Shifts | Shift start times range from 7:00 AM–10:30 AM depending on schedule; includes rotating mid and late ortho shifts | 36 hours guaranteed per week
Key Responsibilities- Provide physical therapy evaluations and treatments within an acute care inpatient rehab setting, with a caseload of 9–14 patients per day
- Perform neuro re-education, gait training, balance training, wheelchair training, vestibular training, BUE/BLE ROM and strengthening, orthotic use and fit, and home safety and family training
- Complete thorough chart reviews including interpretation of lab values and weight-bearing precautions; acknowledge or complete evaluations within 24 hours of order
- Utilize clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills to advance patients through their continuum of care, including preparing total joint and TAVR/SDS patients for discharge to home
- Communicate and coordinate with RN staff before and after each patient interaction to ensure appropriateness of services and report progress and patient needs
- May be cross-trained to support the acute rehab unit on high-census or low-staffed days
Required Qualifications- MSPT or DPT degree from an accredited physical therapy program
- Successful completion of the NPTE
- Active Utah state Physical Therapy license
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience
- Proficiency with EPIC documentation system
Preferred Experience / Skills- Previous acute care experience, particularly with neuro, multi-trauma, and medically complex diagnoses
- ICU experience
- Familiarity with mobility devices and lift systems, as well as application of back braces, UE/LE positioning devices, and hip/spine/cardiac precautions
- Experience with stroke protocols and total joint/TAVR patient populations
