Job Title: Physical Therapist (PT) Profession: Physical Therapist Specialty: Outpatient Duration: Full-Time Shift: Monday-Friday Hours per Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, with weekend rotation (1 per month) Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Physical Therapist License Required Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support (Within 1 month of hire or transfer is highly preferred) Must-Have: Bachelor’s Degree Required Description: This position is primarily outpatient but may involve floating to acute care as needed. The role involves delegating responsibilities to Physical Therapist Assistants and Aides. Activities focus on patient care and adhere to assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation standards. Responsibilities include evaluating the patient’s function through formal and informal testing measures. A specific treatment regime is developed based on assessment data and patient tolerance for treatment. The treatment plan is to be submitted in writing and includes updates as needed. The therapist will devise a treatment schedule that discusses frequency and duration with the patient, family, and caregivers. Education for patients, families, and/or caregivers regarding pathologies, treatment alternatives, and prognoses is essential. Supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants, Physical Therapy Aides, Home Health Aides, and students will be provided in compliance with standards. Recommendations for adaptive or supportive equipment will be made based on assessments. Documentation of patient responses to treatments and changes in conditions must adhere to policy standards. Daily documentation for billing procedures must be completed in compliance with regulations. Therapists will provide treatment interventions and demonstrate competence in achieving optimal functioning specific to patient care. A home education program using effective teaching methods will be developed for patients and caregivers. Effective oral and written communication with internal and external stakeholders is critical. Promotion of education and development among staff, students, and other healthcare providers will be encouraged. Participation in program development and interdisciplinary meetings is expected. Promoting physical therapy and community education is also part of the role. The therapist will function as a case manager for assigned cases. Commitment to the mission of the organization is essential, reflected in customer service, quality of service, and teamwork. Maintaining confidentiality of patient information is required. Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Physical and Mental Requirements: Exposure to stressful situations, public contact, trauma, grief, and death may occur. Ability to move freely about the facility and perform job functions with or without assistance is required. Overall vision and hearing may be necessary, with or without assistance devices. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods is part of the job. Physical demands include the ability to lift or carry weights as required. Dexterity is needed for various physical activities, including handling and reaching. Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain good attendance is essential. Compliance with OSHA regulations and safety protocols is mandatory. Handling of potentially infectious materials and communicable diseases may occur. Overall physical demand level is medium.
