Job Title: Physical Therapist Profession: Rehabilitation Therapy Specialty: Physical Therapist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Varies Hours per Shift: 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday 7 am - 6 pm, Saturday 8 am - 1 pm Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in adult outpatient rehab License: Licensed as a Physical Therapist Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification, Valid Driver's license Must-Have: Active Alaska license, Flu vaccinations Description: Must have an active Alaska license at time of submission. Must have flu vaccinations. Provides general Physical Therapy evaluations and treatments that impact patients' functional abilities. Oversees and directs the work of Physical Therapist Assistants and/or other designated staff members. Conducts general physical therapy evaluations and treatments for a wide range of ages with various diagnoses and issues. Performs assessments, evaluations, identifies therapy diagnoses, formulates treatment plans with goals, and implements physical therapy services. Implements, supervises, and modifies therapy plans based on assessment of patient response to optimize outcomes. Reviews clinical records and case histories. Attends care conferences, regular meetings, and remains in contact with referring providers and other health care professionals. Collaborates with team members to assure appropriate medical equipment is arranged and care plans are established prior to discharge. Documents patient encounter findings and treatments including diagnoses, treatment plans, recommendations, and prognoses according to policies. Provides services in a timely manner and according to regulatory requirements. Works with in-patient and out-patient populations in various settings as assigned. Directs the work of support staff, students, or interns. Facilitates a healthcare partnership between providers, patients, and their families. Develops, implements, and conducts patient education and therapy programs based on patient and family needs. Provides clear and concise home exercise programs to achieve the fullest rehabilitative potential. Ensures that instructions are understood by asking for feedback and return demonstrations from patients or caregivers. Advises patients and families on methods to facilitate self-care and independence. Creates home programs that are clear and concise. Assists senior staff in administrative matters, clinic operations, and specialty areas as appropriate. Utilizes the hospital computer system to obtain patient information and keep abreast of directives. Participates in the timely and efficient flow of information via email and digital platforms. Provides summaries of results, statistics, and metrics as required. Assists in the acquisition and fitting of durable medical equipment based on patient needs. Communicates with supervisors and/or DME providers regarding equipment measurement, fitting, and delivery. Maintains supply stocks and clinical equipment at acceptable levels. Stays current on billing procedures and mechanisms to aid reimbursement for services and supplies. Maintains cleanliness of the clinical space. Educates staff on PT-related issues and informs patients/families about functional limitations. Assists in committee and management duties and represents the department as requested. Provides therapy consultations, presentations, and in-services to medical staff and other interdisciplinary personnel. Adheres to regulatory and practice standards. Follows confidentiality and quality assurance standards. Participates in quality management functions and utilizes principles in all aspects of the job. Performs other duties as assigned.
