Job Title: Physical Therapist Profession: Therapy/Rehabilitation Specialty: Acute Care Hospital Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (07:00 - 15:30) Experience: 1 year of level 1 trauma acute care experience required License: State Licensed Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Level 1 trauma acute care experience Description: Therapy services are provided to a wide range of patient care areas, including medicine, surgery, orthopedics, neurology, cardiopulmonary, and oncology. The employee will work Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 15:30 with a flexible start time up to 08:00. The employee will be required to work one weekend (Saturday and Sunday) during a 4-week period, resulting in a day off during that week. Strong communication skills and a desire to work with a variety of patient populations are essential. The clinician may float within the scope to meet facility needs and may be utilized in any therapy service line. Expected duties include assessments, documentation, patient and family education, and safety and injury prevention. Special skills required include acute care experience, adaptive devices, evaluation, gait training, patient family education, and vital sign monitoring. The role is focused primarily on inpatient acute care with a patient age group consisting of adults and geriatrics. The clinician will establish treatment plans and provide treatment, considering discharge needs and expected functional status. Educating and collaborating with patients, families, and other health care providers is a key component of the role. Documentation must be completed in accordance with departmental policies, with particular attention to special equipment and safety considerations.
