Travel Physical Therapist — Montgomery, AL (Hospital)


Provide skilled physical therapy services to adult and pediatric patients in an acute hospital setting. Manage caseloads that may include trauma, orthopedic, neurologic, cardiac, post-operative, ICU and MedSurg patients. Perform evaluations, develop treatment plans, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and document care in the facility EMR. Follow facility policies and complete a department orientation.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Entry-level degree in Physical Therapy (Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate) from an accredited program approved by the APTA.
  • Active Alabama PT license required prior to the start of assignment.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Acute care experience preferred. Candidates with less acute care background will be considered if willing to be trained and coached.
  • Ability to manage high-volume caseloads (typical patient ratios noted by client: 10–12 patients per therapist; up to 15 units per day).
  • Experience with Cerner/PowerChart EMR preferred.
  • Adaptable and coachable team player, able to work with Rehab Aides and clinical support staff.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MSPT or DPT credential preferred.
  • Experience treating trauma, stroke, neuro, and critical care populations.
  • Previous hospital-based floating experience across specialties preferred.


Assignment Details

  • Standard hours per week: 40.
  • Schedule: five 8-hour shifts per week.
  • Weekend rotation: approximately once per month.
  • May be asked to assist with coverage for major or minor seasonal holidays per facility policy.
  • Caseload may include multiple areas within the hospital including trauma, orthopedics, neuro, MedSurg, ICU, and ED. Floating across units may be required.
  • Orientation: 3 days in department with 1:1 support from Rehab Aide during initial period.
