Job Title: Physical Therapist Profession: Therapy Specialty: Physical Therapist Duration: 10 Weeks Shift: 9 AM - 5 PM Hours per Shift: 7.5 Experience: Minimum 2 years in an acute care setting License: NYS License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years of experience in an acute care setting - NYS License - BLS Certification Description: In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating physical therapy needs and implementing comprehensive, medically prescribed physical therapy treatment to assigned patients in a supervised program of rehabilitation. Perform other duties as assigned. Conduct initial assessments and evaluations of physical therapy needs for assigned patient populations. Review the medical chart to ascertain important medical information and clarify referral or treatment orders if necessary for unfamiliar diagnoses. Select appropriate assessment tools and methods to accurately determine the patient’s status and develop an optimal treatment plan. Demonstrate effective clinical decision-making and implement changes or adaptations to the treatment plan when appropriate. Implement treatment plans and protocols according to current professional and health standards. Establish achievable and appropriate treatment goals with patients and families. Consider a variety of validated treatment approaches and rationales for achieving patient goals. Select appropriate technical aids or assistive devices and correctly refer patients to other clinical services to achieve stated goals. Assess the educational needs of patients and families and implement various methods for patient and family education and training during the rehabilitation process. Complete all required documentation for patient care and reimbursement. Produce and plan all required documentation in the medical chart as required by department guidelines. Use appropriate medical and clinical terminology. Accurately record all treatment given, including completion of daily treatment records. Participate in the clinical education of field-work students and other professional educational endeavors. Teach and supervise assigned students in appropriate techniques, skills, and procedures. Demonstrate a genuine interest in helping students enhance their knowledge and skill levels. Encourage positive learning experiences for career-opportunity students and other non-field-work students. Provide a certain level of patient-care productivity as indicated by unit procedures. Demonstrate the ability to provide expected patient contact as indicated by productivity reports and patient-contact analysis. Demonstrate continued proficiency in skills required to treat the assigned patient population.
