It includes integration of technical pharmacy aspects with medical review, case management, mental health, and quality management. Technician responsibilities include communicating directly with customer service, members, network pharmacies, and regulatory entities. The role also involves direct communication with pharmacists, nurses, and physicians regarding claims and medication management programs. Duties: Provide excellent member care to find solutions and ease members' concerns during initial communications. Maintain excellent customer service to external partners and caregivers, fostering strong relationships throughout all interactions. Act as a liaison and problem solver with multiple providers, including physicians and office staff. Identify and respond to requests for medical preauthorization requiring immediate determination. Efficiently manage multiple priorities and time deadlines while working both independently and collaboratively. Administer pharmacy benefits and contracts to achieve operational goals while meeting individual needs. Understand medical drug benefits and channel management policies. Essential Functions: Coordinate and process pharmacy prior authorizations considering eligibility and documented criteria. Review and maintain a database of pharmacy benefit member eligibility. Oversee daily point-of-service claims transactions through the claims processing system. Document incoming calls and requests, identifying urgent needs that require immediate attention. Perform data entry of information such as authorization requests, member demographics, and medication therapy management. Use judgment to route cases to appropriate licensed caregivers based on established guidelines. Determine and assign correct coding, ensuring accuracy in recorded information. Assist in developing and maintaining loss reports. Notify prescribers of prior authorization issues and communicate clinical statuses. Support various departments in problem-solving and workflow inquiries. Develop written communications as directed and conduct audits for quality assurance. Train staff and members in pharmacy processes and system usage as applicable. Monitor security of medical records to protect confidentiality. Research pended claims and provide resolutions as necessary. Authorize payment of pharmacy claims according to established policies. Maintain a sound working knowledge of policies relevant to pharmacy operations and healthcare regulations. Proactively identify training and systems improvement opportunities. Manage workloads effectively while adhering to quality and productivity standards. Demonstrate proficiency in pharmacy applications and Microsoft Office. Qualifications: Working knowledge of medical terminology, coding applications, confidentiality guidelines, and pharmaceuticals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities. Ability to prioritize and organize incoming information and multiple projects. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and database maintenance skills. Ability to navigate various applications and tools efficiently.
