Clinical Pharmacist Specialist – Managed Care (Remote)

Contract | Full-Time | Remote | Monday–Friday, Days (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM) | Rare weekend coverage required a few times per year

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive Medication Therapy Management (MTM) services including assessment of medication-related problems, development of patient-specific action plans, and follow-up on clinical interventions across a broad patient population (neonate through geriatric).
  • Collaborate with medical directors, nurse case managers, and network providers to deliver coordinated, evidence-based, cost-effective pharmaceutical care to health plan members.
  • Perform drug utilization management functions including prior authorization review, medical drug policy development and application, and population-level quality improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate therapeutic recommendations verbally and in writing to physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Participate in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee activities, departmental meetings, and quality assurance evaluations of clinical pharmacy services.
  • Support education and training of pharmacists, interns, and pharmacy residents; contribute to professional presentations, publications, and evidence-based literature reviews.
Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required; Bachelor's or MS in Pharmacy considered with 5+ years of managed care experience including documented clinical case review and direct medication consultation with physicians and/or patients.
  • Active Pharmacist license in Oregon, Washington, or California required (may be submitted with licensure pending).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a managed care environment with direct involvement in prior authorizations, audits, appeals, and ALJ court hearings; OR completion of a PGY-1 Managed Care Residency with 1 year of relevant practice experience.
  • Experience with clinical policy development, medication evidence review, and pharmacy claims processing platforms.
  • Experience supporting population health management programs and services.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with ability to analyze and manipulate complex datasets.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Completion of a PGY-2 or specialty pharmacy residency.
  • Board Certified Pharmacist (BPS certification) in a relevant specialty.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
  • Experience writing research protocols, medical papers for publication, or patient/provider educational materials.
