This acute care Pharmacist role offers the opportunity to focus on pediatric patients in a dynamic hospital setting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Within this acute care environment, you will join a collaborative, patient-centered pharmacy team that supports a broad range of pediatric services. As a pharmacist with a pediatric focus, you will provide clinical and operational pharmacy services to inpatient pediatric units, which may include general pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, pediatric surgical services, and pediatric emergency or step-down units. A typical day may involve verifying medication orders, providing pharmacokinetic and therapeutic drug monitoring, supporting dosing and monitoring of high-risk medications, participating in rounds, and ensuring safe preparation and dispensing of sterile products tailored to pediatric patients. You will use a modern electronic medical record and pharmacy information systems to manage orders, document interventions, and communicate with the care team.
Patient ratios and workload are designed to support safe, high-quality care, with clinical pharmacists often aligned to specific units or service lines to allow for specialization and continuity. The hospital environment emphasizes evidence-based practice, with pharmacists participating in medication safety initiatives, order set review, and guideline development, particularly around pediatric dosing, sedation, and anti-infective use. You may also have opportunities to be involved in pediatric code response and rapid response situations, working in close collaboration with nursing and medical staff.
Shifts may include a mix of days, evenings, and weekend coverage, depending on departmental needs and pediatric census. *Graduate from a college/school of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) OR graduate from a foreign college of pharmacy that has at least a five-year curriculum and has passed the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and become certified by the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Commission (FPGEC), required.
*Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited institution, preferred.
*Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Minnesota current
*Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification current
*PharmD degree or equal clinical experience preferred for decentral.
*Institutional or retail experience, preferred.
*Pediatric Residency, preferred.
