Job Title: Perfusionist Profession: Perfusionist Specialty: Perfusionist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (07:00 - 15:30) Experience: 2 years required License: State License required Certifications: BLS, CCP-Certified Clinical Perfusionist Must-Have: - 2 years of experience required - Call required - Experience with a Level 1 teaching hospital Description: Two years of experience required. CCP and BLS certifications required. Call is required for this position. Experience in a Level 1 teaching hospital is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have expertise in acid-base management and adequacy of perfusion. Experience in handling adult respiratory and cardiac arrest is essential. Knowledge of anticoagulation, aortic valve replacement, and aorto-bicaval cannulation is necessary. Familiarity with ascending aorta cannulation, autologous blood salvage, and blood conservation techniques is required. Candidates should have experience with cardioplegia and coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Competence in working within CVOR is expected. Expertise in extracorporeal life support (ECLS) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is crucial. Experience with extracorporeal circuit components for cardiopulmonary bypass is required. Performing femoral cannulation and managing flow rates is essential. Knowledge of point of care testing and the use of I-STAT is necessary. The candidate will manage isolation precautions and have experience with massive air embolus situations. Proficiency in temperature management and systemic hypothermia is important. Experience with organ transplantation and weaning/resumption of natural circulation is required. Understanding of trauma level care and management of ventricular assist devices (VAD) is necessary. The ability to transport patients requiring cardiopulmonary support is essential. Candidates should also have expertise in minimizing complications during surgical procedures. Knowledge of special procedures and interdisciplinary support for medically complex patients is preferred.
