Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring strong PICU experience and DC licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • Floats within scope between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU based on facility needs
  • Cares for pediatric patients of all ages in critical care settings
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, with ratios up to 1:3 if floated to NICU
  • Day shift (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30) or Night shift (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) available
  • Every other weekend required, with block scheduling for weekends also accommodated
  • One guaranteed holiday with preference consideration, second holiday based on facility need
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license required, or pending license accepted with proof and application submitted within 24-48 hours of signing (active license required before start)
  • MD/VA candidates require compact or state license
  • BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required; 3 years preferred
  • Some NICU/CICU experience highly preferred due to floating expectations
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Strong skill set in respiratory, cardiovascular, and critical care procedures including ventilator management, ABG interpretation, central/arterial line management, and hemodynamic monitoring

Additional Information

  • Provide direct pediatric critical care nursing across PICU, CVPICU, and NICU as needed based on facility demand
  • Scrubs may be any child-friendly color but must be logo-free
  • Maximum 7 days RTO; if a full consecutive week is requested, the missed week must be made up by extending the assignment
  • No RTO permitted after initial offer, and unmade shifts may result in system-wide DNR status
  • Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous Children's National employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to be eligible
  • Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation
