Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position requiring 2+ years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience and a DC RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool at a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level I Trauma status and 320 staffed beds
  • Care for pediatric patients across NICU, PICU, and CVPICU with ages ranging from newborn through adolescence
  • Patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2, with ratios up to 1:3 when floating to NICU
  • 3x12 hour Day shifts (7:00-19:30) or 3x12 hour Night shifts (19:00-7:30) available
  • Every other weekend required, with blocked weekend scheduling also accommodated
  • Floating required between NICU, PICU, and CVPICU based on facility needs
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Charting completed in Cerner

Requirements

  • Active RN license required (DC, MD, or VA compact license accepted)
  • DC applicants must apply within 24-48 hours of signing; pending license accepted with proof of application, but active license required before start
  • Current BLS and PALS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PICU or CVPICU experience required, with 3 years and some NICU/CICU experience preferred
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • Teaching hospital and Level I Trauma experience preferred
  • Must be comfortable floating between CVPICU, PICU, and NICU
  • Strong skill set in critical care procedures including ventilator management, arterial line management, CRRT, ICP monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
  • Prior travel nursing experience required

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to pediatric patients with complex respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, neurologic, and oncologic needs
  • Responsibilities may include ventilator management, ECMO support, CRRT, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-cardiac surgery care
  • One holiday guaranteed based on preference submitted with RTO request, with second holiday assignment based on facility need
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage required
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days; a full week of RTO will require making up missed shifts or extending the assignment length
  • No RTO accepted after initial offer
  • Scrubs may be any color but must be child-friendly and free of logos
  • Local candidates accepted with no mileage restriction at the same bill rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
  • Pre-start training modules must be completed prior to orientation
