Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring PCU/stepdown ratio experience and ventilator experience.

Details

  • 36-bed Neuroscience/High-Risk Respiratory Intermediate Care Unit within a hospital setting
  • Mixed acuity med-surg/intermediate care unit currently functioning as a High-Risk Respiratory/COVID unit
  • Patient population includes CVA, TIA, seizures, and other neurological diagnoses
  • Targeted patient ratios of 1:4-6
  • Unit utilizes a team nursing model with RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partnering to care for patient groups
  • Uses heated high flow oxygen and BiPAP equipment
  • Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 19:00-7:30
  • Required to work every other weekend and holiday
  • Required to float within the hospital or to nearby Premier Health campuses, including Main Campus (Dayton), South Campus (Centerville), and North Campus (Englewood)
  • May float to support the Neuro ICU and will be assigned a buddy for appropriate patients
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (State or Compact) required, OH or compact license accepted
  • Minimum 1.5 years of RN experience required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • IV Start skills preferred
  • 1:5 ratio experience in Stepdown or PCU explicitly required; ICU experience does not qualify
  • Ventilator experience required
  • Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Travel experience preferred
  • Candidates with any past license disciplinary action will not be accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide skilled nursing care to a diverse neuroscience and high-risk respiratory patient population
  • Function within a team nursing model, dividing workload among RNs, LPNs, and PCTs to enhance patient care
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Facility reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
  • Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after an offer is made
  • Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are not accepted
  • Previous PERM/PRN Premier Health employees or prior agency staff not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before applying as a traveler and require facility rehire approval
  • First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
  • Lab work and EKG/Dysrhythmia exam must be completed within 72 hours of signing the contract
